Varsity Coaches


Coach Smith has been coaching football for 28 years; 18 years as Head Coach and 10 as Asst Coach in Washington, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Arizona.  He also coached at the college level for 2 years in Minnesota.  As an athlete, he played football at Shelton High School in Washington and college football at Willamette University.  Coach Smith teaches Physical Education and Health Program at Liberty.  He and his wife, Lisa, have 2 children, Carly and Colt.


Coach Thomas is in his 3rd year on the Liberty Football coaching staff.  He was previously the Offensive Coordinator at Dover HS in Delaware for 8 years; 2 years the team earned a spot in the Div I Championship Game.  He was also an Assistant Coach for the Dover HS Baseball team that made it to the State Semi-Finals the last 3 years.  Coach Thomas is on staff at Liberty High School and is married to his wife, Dana.


Coach Johnson has been coaching for 15 years at Liberty and Ironwood High Schools.  He teaches Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, and History.  He is married to Courtney and they have 2 children, Natalie & Callen.


Coach Logan has coached football for 7 years at Liberty.  He is also an Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach for Liberty, as well as a volunteer Coach for the Lions Wrestling Club.  As an athlete, he earned letters 3 years in football and 4 years in wrestling at Moon Valley High School.  He played collegiate football and wrestled at Phoenix College before playing football at Eastern Washington University.  Coach Logan works as a Transition Specialist at Liberty High School.  He is married to Amanda, and they have two children, daughter Brooklyn and son Riston (aka Rico).


Coach Bruce is entering his 4th season of coaching at Liberty High School. Coach Bruce is the Varsity Wide Receivers Coach. He spent his first two years at Liberty as the WR and OC on the freshman team. He spent his last two years on the Varsity staff as the Wide Receivers Coach that also included a year pulling double duty as the JV OC. He was a multi-sport athlete in high school and went on to play basketball and football at the University of Redlands. He was voted MVP of the basketball team in 1996 and was First Team All-SCIAC in football in 1999. He is married to the love of his life, Heidi, and they have 3 kids. Tatum graduated from Liberty HS in 2017 and is entering her freshman year at Boise State on a full ride gymnastics scholarship. TJ is 15 and entering his sophomore year of high school. Gracie is 11 and will be in 6th grade. GO LIONS! 


Travis Seefeldt is a first year coach for Liberty, but he is no stranger to the Lion's ways. Coach Seefeldt is a Liberty Alumni and graduated high school in 2011. In his senior year, he was a First-Team All Conference Offensive Lineman and Second-Team All Conference Defensive Lineman. Playing for Liberty helped Travis achieve a dream of playing football at the next level, as he received a full ride scholarship offer from Utah State University. During his time at Utah State he was a part of five Bowl Games, a WAC Conference Championship, and a Mountain West Division Championship. Travis graduated in May with his Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems. Seefeldt currently works for Waste Management as an Account Manager. Last July, Travis married his high school sweetheart, Alexis Hart, who also graduated from Liberty and was a part of the first graduating class in 2010. The couple recently purchased their first home in the Peoria area. Coach Seefeldt likes to spend his spare time training their dog Tahoe, and loves being outdoors by finding the best fly fishing spots and camping.


Coach Mumin is in his 3rd year coaching for Liberty. He was the Head Coach of the San Angelo Stampede Express IFL team in 2007 and was the Defensive Coordinator for the Indoor Football League from 2004 to 2012.  Coach Mumin attended Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California.  There he played football, basketball, and baseball; he achieved All League honors in all three sports.  He then attended LA Harbor college, where he played football for 2 years.  He played professional Arena Football and Indoor Football 2000-2014.  Coach Mumin and his wife, Precious, have 3 sons – Wali, Davin, and Qadeer – and 1 daughter, Precious.

CORNERS COACH:  Radric Coleman

This is Coach Coleman’s first year coaching at Liberty High School. He is excited to be a part of the coaching staff and is looking forward to a great season.  Go Lions! 

Coach:  Kyle Pooler

This is Coach Poolers first year on the Liberty Football staff and his second as a math teacher at Liberty.  Coach Pooler has been coaching football for 22 years at the High School and Collegiate level.  Coach helps out with special teams, kickers, punters, and tight ends.  Coach has been married for 22 years to his lovely wife Katie.  They have 3 children, 1 daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter.  Kenedee and Kasidee are students at Liberty while son Karson and his wife Gabby are enjoying their lovely daughter Olivia.

As an athlete Coach was a three sport athlete in High School playing Football, Soccer and Baseball.  He earned a scholarship to play football at the University of Missouri where he was All Big Eight Punter and Kicker.  He played in the arena football league with the Arizona Rattlers and the Los Angles Avengers.

Quality Control Coach:  Anthony Becker

Coach Becker has been coaching football for 11 years, 9 of those years at Liberty High School.  He likes to play golf, hunt, fish and attend Cardinals games.  Coach Becker is married to Heather and they have 3 sons; Dean, Garrett, and Max.




Coach Nechero is in his 3rd year of coaching football at Liberty.  He attended and played football at Mountain Ridge High School.  He then earned a Physical Education degree at Northern Arizona University.  Coach Nechero is teaching Physical Education at Liberty High School.


Coach Bo has been coaching at Liberty for 6 years.  He coached Varsity football for 16 years:  Greenway HS Defensive Backs for 1 year, Northwest Christian HS Defensive Coordinator, Receivers, Running Backs for 11 years, and Moon Valley HS Defensive Safety and Running Backs for 2 years.  Coach Bo played football 1969-1973 at Marmion Military Academy in Illinois, Varsity 2 years and an un-defeated Senior year.  His played collegiate football at Eastern Illinois University 1973-1977, where he was a 3 year starting Defensive Back.  He is a Technical Trainer and Business Consultant.  He has been married to his wife, Laurie, for 35 years.  They have 2 children, 2 granddaughters, and 3 grandsons.


Coach Guevara is in his 2nd year of coaching football at Liberty.  He previously coached 1 year at Copper Canyon and coached youth football for 14 years. He is married to his wife, Stephanie, and they are proud parents of their son, Angel 23, a US Serviceman, and son, Jonah 14.


1969-1973 - Played and ran track (state medalist) at Marshall (Mi) High School.1973-1977 - Ran track at Olivet College in Michigan 1977-1979 -  Coached Freshman football and was Head girls track coach at his alma mater, Marshall High School. 1979-1985: Teacher and coach at Wheeler High School, Valparaiso, Indiana. Coached Boys volleyball, boys basketball and Track. 1985-1986: Teacher and coach at Palo Verde High School in Blythe, CA. Coached Football, Girls Basketball and Baseball. 1986-2017: Teacher, Computer Coordinator, Technology Integration Specialist – Glendale Union HS District. Coached Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Track. 2011-2016 – Head Girls track and 2016 Girls Varsity Assistant Basketball – Liberty High School 2017-2018 – Teacher and coach at Liberty. JV Football, Girls basketball, and Girls track coach



This is Coach Cherry’s 2nd year coaching football at Liberty. He previously coached football for 12 years. Coach Cherry attended Moon Valley High School, and ran track at Glendale Community College, University of Arizona, and Arizona State University.  He received his BA & Masters from ASU.  He currently teaches weightlifting at Liberty.  He has 2 sweet little girls.


Coach Raymond is in his second year coaching at Liberty.  Over the last 13 years Coach Raymond was a Freshman, JV, and Assistant Varsity baseball and basketball coach.  He coached on three state runner-up baseball teams.  Coach Raymond is a native of Arizona.  He played football, basketball, and baseball at St. Mary’s High School.  He also played baseball collegiately at Grand Canyon University.  Coach Raymond teaches Physical Education at Liberty High School.  He and his wife, Christie, have 2 children; Tristen and Kenny.

OFFENSIVE LINE:  Michael Welch

Coach Welch is in his 2nd year of coaching at Liberty.  He previously coached youth football for six years. He was born in Phoenix, AZ and played football at Liberty high school. He went on to play football as a long snapper at the University of Utah.  Coach Welch is currently working as an EMT.



Coach Gattie has coached at Liberty for 4 years and previously coached youth football for 15 years.  He is a graduate of Dysart High School Class of 1988; where he played football and ran track.  He was an All-State cornerback and a 5 time State Champion in Track and Field.  He has been married to his wife, Ida, for 25 years and they have 3 children & twin grandsons. 


Coach Tuskan is in his third year of coaching at Liberty.  He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s degree in Engineering from ASU.  He has worked as a Forensic Engineer for over 30 years.  He is married to Marie and they have 2 daughters, both of whom attended Liberty High School.  He enjoys hunting, camping and hiking.
